Music Muse #5

Aine Cahill

Instagram story ads do work! I’ve actually discovered a lot of cool people and products through story ads between the stories of people you follow, but this has been one of the best in a while. Aine Cahill’s single ‘Beauty Is a Lie’ is a stunning song worthy of major attention. Think Marina & The Diamonds ‘Electra Heart’ styled pop with more soulful vocals.

Ariana Grande

I expect no less, but she keeps reinventing herself, her sound and every era she comes back with a new refreshing sound whilst maintaining her signature vocal talent. The newest song ‘God is a Woman’ pretty much sums up this next era for her, she knows she’s good, and she’s going to flaunt it and we’re lapping it up.

Jake Shears

I have waited YEARS, I mean YEARS, for the return of Jake Shears/Scissor Sisters. The modern-day Freddie Mercury whose unmistakable style will make you dance on the spot, is finally back. If you, like myself, harken back to the hay-day of the Scissor Sisters, Jake Shear’s is back and resurrecting their signature sound.

Keiynan Lonsdale

Keiynan Lonsdale has suddenly blown up since his supporting role in the milestone film Love, Simon. Since then he’s taken advantage of this sudden global exposure to push his music along with advancing his acting career. Kiss The Boy was a brilliant pop song with obvious queer connotations that everybody loves. Preach, the new single, is a on another level. Vocally it really shows off the range Keiynan possesses, and I implore you to watch the video above.

Childish Gambino

When does Donald Glover not impress? Be it his skillful acting or his genre jumping music, he always manages to surprise and amaze his fans with new music and performances. This is America was a ground-breaking single with obvious political remarks on modern day America and even racial controversies. His newest single(s) couldn’t be more different. The Summer Pack single with two songs, ‘Summertime Magic’ and ‘Feels Like Summer’ take R&B/soul and bring the tempo right down to the perfect summertime jam. These are the kind of songs you listen to relaxing in the early evening of summer with a cold drink and a drunken smile.

Lizzo

Lizzo is a force to be reckoned with, solidifying her place in today’s pop and rap game, it comes as no surprise her latest single is an explosive pop song that packs a punch and gets stuck in your head. Boys is probably one of my favourite songs she’s ever released, celebrating all thing boys in all shapes and sizes. This song makes me think of Mika on cocaine, or the final evolution of Lady Gaga’s song Boys, Boys, Boys. It’s loud, catchy and unapologetically in love with boys.
